Life in Kosovo discusses the law on NGOs and the job of the Parliament of Kosovo

16 July 2010   Tonight, Life in Kosovo broadcasts two debates: one on the law of Nongovernmental Organisations and another on the parliamentary debate about the spring session of the Assembly of Kosovo.

Why is the law on NGOs being altered? Was there pressure for these alterations? Who is requesting the transformation of the micro-financial NGOs? How will this transformation reflect on the donors? Are the changes to this law in accordance with European principles of the civil society sector?

The following guest will join Muhamet Hajrullahu in the studio:

Besim Kajtazi – Director of the legal office from the Office of the Prime Minister

Sylejman Kajtazi – Director of the legal department, Ministry of Public
Administration
Shkëndije Himaj – The main official for financial supervision, Kosovo Central
Bank
Taulant Hoxha – Program for civil society development coordinator, Kosovar Civil

Society Foundation – KCSF

Ferdinand Nikolla – Executive director, Forum for Civic Initiative - FIQ

In the second debate, the journalist Muhamet Hajrullahu asked deputies as well as representatives from civil society whether they thought the Assembly of Kosovo has fulfilled its obligations that it had agreed to at the beginning of this year.

To discuss these topics, guest in the studio will be:

Bahri Hyseni – Deputy from PDK and chairman of the Legislation Commission
Armend Zemaj – Deputy from LDK
Gjylnaze Syla –Deputy from AAK
Driton Selmanaj – Democratic Institute of Kosovo

During the debate, three reportages will be broadcast on the job of the Assembly. Journalist Alban Selimi asks the deputies and monitors of the Assembly of Kosovo whether they have fulfilled their obligations and how effective their institution has been. In another reportage, the journalist Alban Selimi asks the citizens what perception they have on how the deputies are doing their jobs.

BIRN also broadcasts a reportage from the journalist Edona Musa which talks about evaluations of the Kosova Democratic Institute, KDI, on the activities of the deputies during the July to December 2009 period.

To finish the show, journalist Petrit Kryeziu tells why the kindergarten “Yllka” in Prizren does not have a clear status and has a debt of 80,000 euro.
