Life in Kosovo: Kosovo’s Tourist Offer

06 August 2009   This Thursday, Life in Kosovo presented a special show on Kosovo’s top tourist hotspots.

How much does Kosovo offer in terms of tourism? What can you learn from Kosovo’s history by visiting historic monuments like Jashari and Isa Boletini tower? What services and natural wonders will you find when you visit Rugova, Mirusha, Gadime and Sharr Mountain? Where can you taste the best honey, red wine, homemade raki, peppers with cheese, pastries and dairy products in Kosovo?

Muharremi first visits Rugova, situated in the west of Kosovo, close to the Montenegro border. Breathtaking footage of the area and interviews with locals give viewers a good understanding of the place and what it has to offer.

Peja, a city close to Rugova, is next on the list for our reporter. The main street of the city, with all its tradition, is the focus of the story.

Muharremi then travels to Decan, Mirusha and Rahovec. Decan with its castles, Mirusha its waterfall and the tasty wines of Rahovec are put under the spotlight.

The attractions of Prekaz, the home village of famous KLA leader Adem Jashari, are explained thoroughly by the guide. With almost nine million visitors in the ten last years, Jashari's house remains the most visited site by locals and international visitors.

Our reporter also visited the castle of Isa Boletini, close to the city of Mitrovica. The Gadime cave is another natural beauty featured in the show, which concludes with a visit to Batllava lake, situated half an hour's drive from the capital Prishtina.

Kosovo’s Son-in-Law then delivers a satirical sketch on Kosovo’s tourism.
