Kosovo's Son in Law

29 November 2006   Since October 2005, the current affairs show, Jeta ne Kosove, along with it’s comic closing sketch, “Dhandrri i Kosoves” have captivated and irritated RTK audiences with provocative and irreverent approach to addressing Kosova’s greatest challenges and pressing issues.

Dhandrri i Kosoves, created by the Jeta ne Kosove team and played by Casey Cooper Johnson, is an American immigrant to Kosova, who continually tries to solve all of Kosova’s problems as a means of pleasing his Kosovar Father-in-law and gaining his approval as a foreign Son-in-law.

Dhandrri embodies the most stereotypical elements of his split identity, tackling each show’s theme with a self-important, yet totally naïve American attitude, while trying to embrace his new Kosovar identity, which he simply can’t understand.

The result is always the same, a hilarious satire under the guise of innocent motives, which sheds some light on the sea of irony we live in, while planting occasional seeds of subversive thought and progressive ideas.

Even if none of this is true, it certainly provides a relaxing closure to the serious and often highly confrontational debates in the show.
